A workshop,
not a brand.
Maren & Co. was started in 2014 by Inês Maren, her mother Cristina, and a cousin who had spent thirty years cutting jackets in Porto. We have grown to twenty-two people, working out of a converted textile mill on the outskirts of Guimarães.
Slow on purpose.
We cut in batches of forty. Forty coats, forty cardigans, forty tees. When a batch is gone, we wait until the next season to cut another one. We have no warehouse and no markdown calendar.
It is a slower way of working. It is also the only way we know how to ensure that every garment we sell has been touched, by name, by someone in our workshop.
Fibers, not blends.
Every Maren piece is made from a single natural fiber, or a named blend of two. Wool, linen, cotton, cupro, cashmere. No elastane, no recycled-polyester sleight of hand.
Most of our cloth comes from mills inside Portugal — Burel, Inovafil, Riopele, Sampedro. The ones that do not are named on every product page, so you know exactly where your sweater started.
"If you have to tell a customer the garment was made well, you have already failed. They should feel it."
— Cristina Maren, co-founder
Begin a small ritual.
Four pieces. Four colors. Four sizes. Each one made to outlast its replacement.
